New OQO Model 01 Review
![]() |
After reviewing the OQO Model 01, geekBlue was surprised on what we found. The ultra small unit has many features that are missing from your normal handhelds yet there are disadvantages as well. Even though the unit itself is too big to fit in your pocket the appeal comes from the fact that it uses Windows XP to run it's apps. Weight around 14 ounces and measuring 3.4 x 4.9 x 0.9 inches, the PC uses a 1GHz Transmeta processor. Standard Options include a 20GB harddrive and a 5-inch transflective screen. The screen is larger than seen on handhelds and is capable of 800x480 resolution. With a built in keyboard and TrakStik as a mouse userbility is rather painless and simple. The wider button keyboard doesn't allow users to type with both hands but thumb typing is quicker and easier than before. Overall the OQO Model 01 is the best seen for smaller handheld devices but still has a lot to overcome before buyers will “buy” into it. Consumer Price $1,999. The portable OQO Model 01 is easier for transport than normal laptops but if you want to do some serious work on it then you might want to use the included dock. The dock comes with an external keyboard and a is packed full of ports.
