Verizon’s EV-DO LGVX8000 Video Streaming Phone
![]() |
With Verizon's new EV-DO cell phone you can stream video, send pictures, and download items while surfing the internet. Japan has been using this type of technology for some time but just recently has the US market opened up to the idea of video streaming phones. Thanks to Verizon and their extremely fast VCAST service, your cell phone can deliver the same speeds as the carrier's connection card. Right now the services are only available in about 30 different areas but its growing fast. With this new technology you can stream higher quality video and play more complex games faster. Wireless web pages will come up just as fast as if you were at your laptop connected to your wireless network. There is a small fee for these features but not nearly as much as was expected. For only an additional $15 a month you can get unlimited video downloads and unlimited Mobile Web 2.0 browsing. The content dealing with gaming and music isn't included but I'm guessing that sometime soon there will be cell phone software that will allow possible P2P connections. The LG VX8000, whose consumer price is at $269, is a “sleeper.” Looking like the normal slower phones on the outside but packing a full “supercharged” hardware that beats anything on the market. LG put a little more effort in the durability with this phone but don't go dropping it off buildings like you do your Nextel phone. More pictures inside article. |
