Adidas "smart" running shoes : CeBit 2005

This is interesting. A processor in your running shoes. I think technology in shoes will make the price of Jordan's look like toddler footies. These prototypes from Adidas seem to be very interesting in that fact that they adjust based on your running techniques and style. There are also buttons on the side so you can custom adjust the feel. Sort of the high tech future of the pumps back in the early 90s.

I'm not sure on all the features but a shoe that can mold or change the sole of the shoe to the features of your foot would be more useful. There has been a good handfull of times that I've liked a shoe but the arch just isn't right. Well maybe in CeBit 2006 we'll see a new prototype come out. No charge for the concept idea Adidas.

"Adidas has a trainer which, according to Susanne Risse from the company, can "sense, understand, and adapt to your running style". It has a battery, processor, and motor embedded in the sole. Buttons on the side allow you to set the amount of cushioning you would like by adjusting the tension on a cable running through the heel. The processor then monitors the surface you are running on, and adjusts the tension accordingly. It is being billed as "the world's first intelligent shoe". "[via bbcnews]
