IBM's Blue Gene and the Top 5 Supercomputers

We here at geekBlue are especially proud of the US for gaining the top rank of supercomputers. Our name originated from IBM's older supercomputer DeepBlue. So we here at geekBlue are kind of connected to the supercomputer ideas.

The top position was overtaken by the US back in November but the same supercomputer has beat its own record. Even though the Blue Gene is constantly being updated and built bigger, the results are amazing. The first speed records that was acheived to overcome Japan was 70.72 teraflops. The next speed record that Blue Gene hit almost doubled their record before. New record hit at 135.5 teraflops. The final goal for the Blue Gene is to hit 360 teraflops. Complete plans are to finish Blue Gene later this year.

The World's Top 5 Supercomputer List
1. Blue Gene/L, USA
2. Columbia, USA
3. Earth Simulator, Japan
4. MareNostrum, Spain
5. Thunder, USA
