Netflix vs Blockbuster, who is growing?
![]() |
Blockbuster's attempts to slow Netflix down is not going as hoped. Netflix who I was a subscriber for at some point, was slow to find new releases. Over the past six months to a year they have really turned their work around. Once I set a movie in the queue it only took about 36 hours before I saw it in my mailbox. The transfer rate for the movies was amazing. The 36 hour mark was my best time, with the slowest not too far from it at 3 days. Blockbuster has recently been trying the online market and I have yet to cross over into that market again. One day soon a trial period test run will happen and you will be the first to hear about it. Netflix, however, seems to be stronger now than before. Newer releases out fast with great customer service. "Netflix Inc. reported that it has more than three million subscribers for its online movie rental service as the firm continues to log impressive gains. Announced Monday, the company noted that it began the year with 2.6 million subscribers and since its founding in 1999, has produced annual subscriber growth of more than 50 percent. "We foresee the continued adoption of the service as we refine and expand it over time," said Netflix CEO and co-founder Reed Hastings, in a statement. The firm, which ships DVD movie titles to subscribers for $17.99 a month, said it recorded its first million subscribers in February 2003 and hit the two million mark in May 2004." [via techweb] |
