Apple Safari runs into problems with Mac OS X 10.3

Apple has run into some problems when users tried to update to Mac OS X 10.3.9. The glitch seems to be when their Safari web browser quits from Java-enabled websites. Also Java programs on the machines can suddenly quit or run into some problems. Apple says the problem can be fixed by re-installing two earlier security patches - Java 1.4.2 update 2 and security update 2005-002. Apple offers a simple test to determine if you need to update.

"If this issue affects your computer, you will get the the message, 'Segmentation fault' (if you don't see this, your computer is not affected by this issue)," said Apple.

Apple launches its next generation operating system Tiger at the end of this month.
