Google launches mobile local search

Google today launched a mobile version of its local search service . This move is seen as an effort to compete with Yahoo, which already offers a similar service.

Google Local for mobile will enable users to see 10 local search results. The service, which integrates the location of the businesses in search results on a map, also provides addresses, phone numbers and driving directions.

Starting Tuesday morning, users can try out the mobile local search engine by going to Google's homepage with a mobile device or by using this link .[via mobiletracker]
