Hong Kong Gets 1Gbps Broadband

Hong Kong Broadband Network launched a new service recently which offers speeds of up to 1Gbps. The service costs about $215/month, while plans with 100Mbps are available for $34/month. This type of service opens the door to a whole new world of streaming video and data possibilities, but don't expect to see it in the states anytime soon.

The company is also deploying new hardware to enable the convergence of voice, data, and television services which will deliver up to 200 pay television channels at MPEG-2 DVD quality.[via GeekCoffee]
