Tungsten 2005 (T6) or palmOne Life Drive Rumors

This rumor has also evolved over time. Initially,  Palm Addict released a rumor about a Tungsten 2005 (T6). The specs at that time were pretty unbelievable:

  • OS 6 (with scalable fonts)
  • Bluetooth
  • Wavelan
  • 1 GB Flash
  • 3 Megapixel Cam
  • New connector (ethernet included)
  • VGA resolution 640 x 480
  • Graffiti 2 plus (with voice commands)
  • Interface to iTunes (Apple iPod)
  • The device is maximum 200 grams
  • Automatic software update over internet
  • Compatibility mode for pocket Windows is built in
  • Initial price is around $400
  • Launch date approx end of April

Then shortly thereafter, someone else wrote in saying that the new high-end Tungsten would have 4 GB of memory and introduce a new brand name. The 4 GB did and still does seem unlikely. Some sites are stating its a 4 GB hard drive causing the new model to be twice as thick as the Tungsten T5. Other sites are speculating its 4 GB of NAND flash. NAND flash memory is what the Tungsten T5 uses. Some have dubbed this new model the "Life Drive".

Mobile Review have confirmed these details on the LifeDrive: " 5D joystick, integrated microphone and a separate dictaphone button. The CPU is Intel XScale PXA270 416 MHz, 32 MB of RAM, Palm OS 5.4."

PalmAddict has posted the following rendering of the new LifeDrive. In addition, these details were submitted to them: "an on / off / hold button, a rotate button, voice recorder, five way navigation with improved fast scrolling, 4GB Non Volatile Memory, built in bluetooth and wifi, 320 by 480 screen with better color saturation, run by a 416 mhz Intel Processor."
