![]() |
Intel today officially launched their new broadband wireless WiMax chipset, formerly known as Rosedale. WiMax which is a IEEE 802.16 standard allows users to have high-speed data throughput over long distances. Intel says that the technology can potentially reach 15 miles. "As a standards-based, high-speed Internet access solution, WiMAX can provide the platform for the next generation of Internet expansion, connecting the next billion Internet users," said Scott Richardson. The 802.16 standard is said to be the next step in wireless technology. It is designed to reach across a much wider area and allow users who may not be able to have DSL to have a high speed connection. Business will also reap from this by using it in many devices needing connection large distances away. geekBlue will provide more information on uses soon. |
