Lifelike Baby Dolls

"Amazing Amanda is a doll that's been developed by Judy Shackelford that can recognize voices, identify objects, and show emotion. According to some analysts and buyers, this doll marks an evolutionary leap in "doll technology".

The doll uses a "voice printing" technology that is similar to one used in the voice dialing featured in cell phones and other mobile devices. The doll asks a child to repeat "Amanda" several times in order to recognize and store the child's voice in her memory. From that point on, the doll recognizes that voice as her "Mommy". The speech recognition chip in the doll not only allows her to recognize speech, but also allows her to talk. The chip has the ability to interpret a number of different languages and dialects."
