Microsoft unveiled a new suite of tools today dubbed Microsoft Expression, which includes web design and graphics software for .Net developers. The suite, announced by Eric Rudder, Senior VP for Microsoft's Server and Tools Division at the Professional Developers Conference, includes the following tools: - Sparkle Interactive Designer: tool for building 3D animation and graphics All of the names are pre-release names and will be changed for the final launch. Although the suite appears to be a direct competitor to Macromedia and Adobe's web and graphic suites, it is more suited to fill a gap in the current product lineup that is closely integrated with Visual Studio, according to Rudder. Microsoft Expression is now available as a community technology preview, and is expected to ship in the second half of 2006.[co-published with friend site GeekCoffee] |
