Microsoft's FVD - Forward Versatile Disc Format

There can never be enough potential DVD successors, right?  Well anyway, Microsoft has set up a technology center in Taiwan to get companies interested in the FVD (Forward Versatile Disc).  The FVD will not hold as much data as the competing formats, however Engadget says that Taiwanese would love the format because it's cheaper and easier to manufacture, and they won't have to pay any royalties to either standards group.
