New York to London in under an hour

This must be one of the more interesting stories I've seen in a while.  Although decades away, we may some day be able to ride in a magnetically levitated train through a transatlantic tunnel at speeds up to 5,000 mph, in which you could theoretically get to London from New York in 54 minutes.  The tunnel would be built out of 54,000 prefabricated sections, connected by water-tight and vacuum-tight gaskets.  Find more information Here
