Blogs prohibited at a high school
![]() |
| Rev. Kieran McHugh of Pope John XIII Regional High School in Sparta will no longer allow students have their own diaries on sites such as Myspace.com and Xanga.com, as "it is not simply harmless teen fun." These types of sites are apparently "fertile ground for sexual predators to gather information about children." As much as the reverend wants to protect his students, taking away students' freedom of speech and threatening them with suspension is certainly not the way to solve the problem. Our form of communication is always evolving, and blogs are the current fad of this generation, so attempting to remove the blogs would prove unsuccessful. If the reverend really wanted to help protect his students, he would train his students in how they should go about blogging, and the sorts of things that should and should not be blogged about. |
