Laser Turntable
![]() |
Retro is coming back in a new way. That line you hear from DJs about the romance of the surface noise on records…forget about it, because now you can play vinyl without ever adding wear to the record. More a curiosity than anything else (even for those of us who still use vinyl), the ELP Laser Turntable plays LPs in a CD age, incorporating five separate laser beams to explore the grooves. The manufacturer’s trademarked moto is “No Needle, No Wear,” and the player can purportedly play a record thousands of times without damaging the vinyl. The turntable even skips tracks, scans backward and ahead, and offers programmable repeating of single sections of a track, all at the push of a remote control button. Via |
