iKey-Audio Hands-on Review

We review a lot of different add-ons for the iPod but this one seems to be the most product. If you own any portable audio device then the iKey will work for you. This small box is designed to record directly to any external USB storage device. It can even record directly to your iPod. What it does is take audio from any audio device and write it directly to the storage device in MP3 or WAV formats. Read rest of review for details. Or you can go directly to the iKey homepage Here. |
The actual product is rather small but the conversion quality is high. The iKey has the ability to store MP3s at a bit rate up to 256. Perfect for professional, Pod casts, or just personal uses.
Once you connect the iKey to the DC Power Adaptor turn it on to begin conversion. You put in your USB mass storage device into the correctly port and wait for the LEDs to light up. They will flash a certain sequence but after that is complete, the iKey will let you know how much space you have left on the USB mass storage device. That feature is very useful. It saves time so you don't have to plug them into your computer to see which one has available space.
Then you connect the RCA cords into the LINE IN plugs. Adjust the volume level, select the Bit rate and you're ready to record. It's pretty simple. The Bit rate shows the quality and the volume control determines the loudness of your recording. It is very simple and only takes about 2 minutes to set up and start. Of course read all instructions before you begin use. The pictures below show a little of what I was talking about.
