Sony Unveils PC/TV Combo

art_4266_big.jpg

For anyone who watches movies and, increasingly, television via their PC, Sony's announcement of PC/TV hybrid today should be warmly received. The VAIO LS1 TV/PC Combo [Sony press release] comes in a single unit, like the iMac, with a wireless mouse and keyboard rounding out the simplified setup (both the mouse and the keyboard supposedly fold up into the machine when not in use). The LS1 comes stocked with integrated 802.11 b/g, an Intel Core Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 250GB hard drive, and the unit ships with Windows Media Center 2005 and an NTSC TV tuner. The 19-inch WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) LCD display offers part of the appeal of a flat panel TV, although you're probably not going to be hanging it on your wall. Look for it in mid-September for about $2,100 Via
