TabletKiosk Launches Ruggedized UMPC
|
With Samsung's Q1, and, arguably, the Nokia 870, the ultra mobile PC market is finally enjoying the fervor it wished it had during its inception a few years ago. It should be no surprise then that a company would take the concept and ruggedize it. Being a big fan of the Toshiba Toughbook series, I'm particularly interested in the just-announced TabletKiosk UMPC eo TufTab V7112XT. The PC features a 1.2 Ghz Via processor (known for its low power consumption and ability to run cool), a sizable 7" TFT wide touchscreen, 40GB hard drive, 802.11B/G and Bluetooth. Its case is resistant to rain, dust, and vibration, and since it can run all major OS's, including Linux, it's a perfect tool for job sites whose environment may not be conducive to sensitive equipment.
